So….. superstitious are we?

Did you know that every 14 minutes someone dies on American roads?

YES! Every 14 minutes – think about it – that’s about 40,000 people every year,

people leave to go on an errand, go to a meeting, go on vacation etc etc – and

NEVER come back!

And we don’t want that to happen to anyone reading this – so make sure you pass this on to your friends

as a gentle reminder.

Be safe, have a wonderful weekend and PLEASE watch the other drivers carefully and don’t use

use your cell phone in the car without hands free – it just isn’t that important.

(In fact – when I got my touch screen phone a few years back – it completely

stopped me sending text messages while driving – this is a good thing – and guess what

the world has still turned without me sending those “urgent” messages!!!! Go figure!)

OK – today’s a long one – grab a coffee or whatever and print this one and read it…

Good morning to YOU this morning!

The process has begun – a brand new, whiz bang, cooly dooly PocketAngels website is being created as I write and I am very excited about it. This includes a brand new logo and some other cool stuff.

But that’s not why I am here today – today is to pass on a very valuable lesson I learnt last week from a book.

Your life tip for today is more of a LISTEN UP PEOPLE!!!!

I am glad I was sitting down when I read this because quite frankly it floored me – and I know that I am as guilty of this as anyone else on this earth.

Good question huh?

Well – let me share this little insight with you – the human being is the ONLY being that will possibly suffer thousands and thousands of times as the result of a single mistake.

The rest of the animals pay once – but no – not us – we aren’t happy with this…

Let me explain…

Because we have a powerful memory – we make a mistake, we judge ourselves, we find ourselves guilty and we punish ourselves!

True right? We have all done it.

OK – so – if we were to treat ourselves like the justice system – you do the crime (mistake) you do the time (prison) then you are free to go! Lesson learned, have a good life, Don’t do it again!

But everytime we remember this mistake – we judge ourselves again, find ourselves guilty again and punish ourselves again, and again, and again!!!

And then our partner will remind us, or worse yet – we remind our partner, friends, parents or worse…. our kids and teach them this same lesson!

OMG – YES! I have done this and I feel terrible!

So really – how many times do we need to go through this process before we break the cycle and wake up?

Because every single time we remind ourselves or someone else of that mistake – we blame them or ourselves and all that emotional poison is released again.

I have a challenge for you – take a deep breath and everytime you feel an emotion coming on – or feel the need to “remind” yourself or someone else about a mistake they made – STOP! THINK! and ask yourself -  WHY do I feel this way?

Is it time to let it go, to stop punishing yourself or someone else?

I know – this is pretty deep – and I am not going to go into it any further – I will let you know the title of the book later on though. I want to relate this message and put it back into simple sport coaching format – to show you how easy it is to correct.

A player makes an error of some description – you have 2 choices – encourage them,  reteach the skill and help them have the confidence to accomplish this the next time – and repeat until it is mastered – or… you can simply destroy that athlete by constantly reminding them that the made the mistake and they will never get it right.

So… COACH!!!! yes – I am talking to you – that person you see in the mirror every day is your coach – make sure you tell yourself it’s ok to make mistakes, it’s ok to actually try things and LIVE, it’s important that you don’t remind yourself and others of past mistakes and that – as your parents always told you – “if you don’t have something nice to say….” you know the rest.

Isn’t it time we all started to live by this message? Not only for the sake of others – but for OURSELVES!

You simply don’t need to beat yourself up over a mistake you made yesterday or 10 years ago – learn from it, and move onwards into today and tomorrow.

Right now you have a choice – To do or not to do? I didn’t say it was going to be easy – but I guarantee you – I am going to be making a concerted effort for my wife, kids, family and friends – and of course… for me.
